SURABAYAPAGI.com, Yogyakarta - Director General of Air Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation (Kemenhub) B Pramesti ensured that the Yogyakarta New Airport was also prepared for international flights. He explained that the airport will have a runway of 3,250 meters, four garbarata units, and 23 159,140 square meters of parking stand slots. He ensured that until now the construction of the Yogyakarta New Airport was still in line with planning. The airport, which in its contract must be completed in July 2020, is targeted to be completed in its entirety and will be operational by the end of 2019. Minister of Transportation (Menhub) Budi Karya Sumadi said a scenario was being prepared so that the airport could support international tourism. "Among them is by preparing road access that passes through the Borobudur Temple area and train access to facilitate transportation of tourists and public passengers," Budi said. Budi said the road access to the north via Sentolo will be made from 20 to 30 kilometers. According to him, this access is very important to support the tourism of Borobudur Temple. Budi ensured the Governor of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X had proposed the name of the airport, namely New Yogyakarta International Airport (NYIA). Budi said he would process the proposal until it officially became the name of the airport. rk
