Police Investigate Case of Arrest of Kukang Jawa

SURABAYAPAGI.com - Majalengka District Police raided a Jukang Jukang (Nycticebus javanicus) shelter in Citayeum Hamlet, Cibodas Village, Majalengka District / District, Wednesday (1/9). Police also arrested two hunters of protected animals. Majalengka Police Chief, AKBP Mariyono explained, the success of the disclosure of the case stems from information about the location of the shelter for protected animals of Javanese slow lorises. After conducting an investigation, the police found that the report was true. The police immediately raided the Javan slow loris shelter. From that place, the police found that there were 79 Javan slow lorises. ‘’We have found 79 Javan slow lorises alive,” said Mariyono. The police also secured two suspects. Both are Yy (47 years) and Yn (40 years), a resident of Citayeum Hamlet, Cibodas Village, Majalengka District. The two suspects are looking for Javanese slow loris everyday and collecting their catch in a wooden cage. After a lot of Javan slow lorises are collected, they plan to sell it. The two suspects were charged with Article 21 paragraph 2 letter (a) in conjunction with article 40 paragraph 2 letter (a) Republic of Indonesia Law Number 5 of 1990 concerning Conservation of Natural Resources jo attachment Number 74 Regulation of the Minister of Environment and Forestry Republic of Indonesia Number: P.20 / MENLHK / SETJEN / KUM.1 / 6/2018 concerning Types of Protected Plants and Animals. rk
