Beware of Aedes Aegypti Mosquitoes in the Rainy Season

SURABAYAPAGI.com - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) confirmed that the large number of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes caused dengue cases to continue. Especially, during this rainy season. Director of Vector and Zoonotic Diseases of the Ministry of Health Siti Nadia Tarmizi said, dengue cases continued to occur and even increased in number now because of the awareness of DHF before entering the rainy season which was not optimal. Eradication of mosquito nests does not occur, this is what makes larvae and the number of mosquitoes continue to grow, especially during the rainy season which is a lot of puddles which are places where mosquitoes hatch eggs. "Therefore, in quantity, many mosquitoes that contract the dengue virus then they reproduce. These mosquitoes then bite people and dengue cases occur," he said when contacted, Wednesday (23/1). The problem is increasingly added to the condition of dengue sufferers who are bitten by the mosquito only known after 3-7 days. Yet at the same time more and more Aedes aegypti mosquitoes carry dengue viruses that bite other people. Therefore, he said, his party is currently focusing on reducing the number of mosquitoes to reduce dengue virus carriers. One way, he added, is to do fogging to reduce the number of adult mosquitoes. In addition, he mentioned, he gave abate and larvacide powder to kill mosquito larvae. he said giving abate was done through a community health center. Siti hopes that the community will make 3M efforts to close, drain and bury and dispose of containers such as cans or tires that are submerged in water. By making these efforts, he hopes that DHF cases can be suppressed and the number of Aedes aegypti mosquitoes can decrease and suppress DHF. "The hope is that the number of mosquitoes in a month has been controlled and if you have controlled mosquitoes and their diseases, a maximum of one week there will be no deaths," he said. rk
