Protest on Stage Maroon 5 Schedule in Super Bowl

SURABAYAPAGI.com - The Maroon 5 band will play at the 53rd Super Bowl next month’s break. The announcement however aroused controversy and the emergence of protest petitions. Adam Levine and friends announced they would be appearing in the National Football League (NFL) championship at the Marcedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta. They will join Atlanta’s original Bug Boi and Grammy-nominated rapper Travis Scott. Monday (14/1), Maroon 5 has long been rumored to be playing on one of the most watched television shows in the United States each year. Protests took place after more than 75 thousand people signed the petition online so the band would not play in the Super Bowl as a form of support for former NFL midfielder Colin Kaepernick. Kaepernick is known to kneel when the US national anthem is sung during pre-match. This was done as a way of protesting racial and social injustice and police brutality. The former San Francisco 49ers star has not played in the league since 2016. He filed a complaint against the NFL and owner of the club last year. Kaepernick claimed they had conspired not to hire him, US President Donald Trump has made protests kneel as a problem. He calls anyone who does it as a bastard and must be fired. Other artists reportedly refused the show at halftime to support Kaepernick. The artist’s appearance at the Super Bowl is always awaited by the public. Celebrities who had previously entertained the Super Bowl were Justin Timberlake, Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Katy Perry, Madonna, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, U2 and Michael Jackson. rk
