HKI Service Counter Inaugurated by Major Risma

The City Government (Pemkot) of Surabaya in collaboration with the Directorate General (Dirjen) of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights (Kemenkumham), opened the service counter for Intellectual Property Rights (HKI) application facilities at Siola One-Stop Integrated Service Unit (17/1) The application facility service consists of Trademark, Copyright, Patent Rights and Industrial Design. The Mayor of Surabaya, Tri Rismaharini, said that this step was aimed at increasing the competitiveness of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) so that their reach broader. Besides that, it aims to protect the works or products of MSME products in Surabaya. "Actually, this program has been around for a long time, we provide free facilities. Why did I launch this year, because there are still many who don’t know yet," Risma said. She said that all this time the HKI application service counter in Siola has been available for a long time, but there were still many people who did not yet know it, so it then launched and reintroduced the service facilities. Even so, she advised the Surabaya SMEs to take care of IPR immediately. "Come on, ladies and gentlemen, if there is a friend, they are told to immediately take care of this. How important is the intellectual property, brand and patent rights," she ordered. Risma was concerned to hear some of UMKM’s products or products in Surabaya were claimed by others. Therefore, she stressed that in the future the UMKM actors would no longer underestimate the license issue. With the opening of the service counter, Risma wants MSMEs in Surabaya to be equipped with brand licenses. This is considered important, along with the technological development of the era that continues to increase. Moreover, the product has already been exported, of course it really needs to be equipped with a license. On this occasion, the Mayor of Risma also handed over brand and copyright certificates to 53 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) actors in Surabaya. Among other things, the giving of brand rights to the ’Semanggi Village’ with clover-processed food products, ’Janetta Karya’ with purse-wallet-embroidery products, ’Ning Dea’ types of wet cake products and ‘Medang ’types of macaroni snack products. In fact, he also admitted, this year his party also provides free brand certificates to 150 Surabaya SMEs. "This year we allocate for the free 150, later if we don’t, we will submit again to the DPRD," she concluded.
